Electoral boundary shake-up

Some Greater Dandenong residents will soon find themselves with a new federal representative.

The augmented Electoral Commission for Victoria announced changes to federal electoral divisions on Wednesday 20 June, ahead of the Federal Election due next year.

The new boundaries will apply from Friday 13 July and will ensure each seat is home to 106,954 electors, plus or minus 10 per cent.

Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus said he would welcome Cheltenham, Dingley Village, Heatherton, Highett and Moorabbin into his electorate.

“I am sorry that from the next election I will no longer represent residents of Carrum Downs, Sandhurst, Skye, Noble Park and the parts of Keysborough north of Cheltenham Road,” he said.

“I can assure these residents that I will continue to represent them right up until Election Day.”

The Isaacs gains are Hotham’s losses, but MP Clare O’Neil will add part of the neighbouring Chisholm electorate to her seat, including Oakleigh, Huntingdale, Clayton, Chadstone and Notting Hill.

She’ll also take parts of Wheeler’s Hill, Notting Hill, Glen Waverley and Mulgrave from Bruce MP Julian Hill.

Bruce will keep part of Springvale, Noble Park North, Dandenong North and Dandenong and take on Endeavour Hills, Doveton, Hallam and Eumemmerring from Holt.

Holt, represented by Anthony Byrne will grow to the east to take in Narre Warren South, which was in La Trobe, and south from Cranbourne to the coastal villages that are now in Flinders.
