Active cases in the Dandenong 3175 postcode have dipped by nine in the past week, according to Department of Health and Human Services figures.
The postcode which includes Bangholme, Dandenong, Dunearn, Dandenong North, Dandenong South and Dandenong East has 136 active cases, as of 13 August.
In the week before, active cases had risen by 35 to a total of 145 – the largest increase in the South East.
The postcode remains the largest active infection area in the South East. It makes up the majority of Greater Dandenong’s plateauing list of 198 active cases.
The postcode includes the Outlook Gardens aged-care home in Dandenong North, which is linked to 108 infected residents, staff and contacts.
Active cases have also dropped in surrounding suburbs in the past week: 36 active cases in Endeavour Hills (down six), 33 in Hallam (down four), 21 in Keysborough (down one) and 13 in Lynbrook/Lyndhurst (down one).
However numbers rose markedly in Noble Park/Noble Park North with 27 cases (up 13). There was also a jump of four to 25 cases in Doveton and Eumemmerring.
Sandown Village/Springvale had 10 cases (down two), and Dingley Village/Springvale South six (down one).
Dandenong’s postcode ranks ninth in infections in greater Melbourne behind Western and Northern hotspots such as Hoppers Crossing/Tarneit/Truganina (463 active cases).
The next highest in the South East is the 3977 postcode, which includes Cranbourne, Botanic Ridge, Devon Meadows, Sandhurst and Skye with 103 cases – up 49 in the past two weeks.
Fountain Gate/Narre Warren/Narre Warren South has 57 cases, Hampton Park 28 and Pakenham 53 (up 21 in the past week).
There are 7866 active cases in Victoria, up 417 cases in the past week. The death toll rose by 105 in the same period, to a total of 275.
