POLICE have called for witnesses to an assault at Dandenong train station that occurred on New Year’s Eve.
At about 1.15pm, a 32yearold man boarded a citybound train at the station, and a short time later, while sitting on the floor near the train carriage’s doorway, he was approached by four men.
Police said the victim was repeatedly punched by the men and bitten on his finger, causing a cut.
Police believe passengers fled the immediate area when the incident occurred.
Two of the men were described as caucasian, aged in their mid20s and were wearing singlets.
Two other men are described as darkskinned, aged in their early to mid20s, and were wearing shortsleeve tops.
