ROADWORKS have begun at the busy intersection of Hallam Road and South Gippsland Highway in Lynbrook.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley and Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding have welcomed the $371,000 upgrade, saying it will enhance safety for motorists by improving street lighting and modifying the left-turn lane from Hallam Road onto the highway.
The project is part of the Victorian Government’s campaign to improve the safety of roads for motorists. “We have listened to community concerns and taken action to improve road safety at this location,” Ms Graley said.
The Government aims to reduce Victoria’s road toll, and the number of serious injuries, by 30 per cent over the next 10 years through the Arrive Alive road safety strategy.
Work at the South Gippsland Highway and Hallam Road intersection is expected to be finished by mid January 2009.
