STUDENTS at Mt Hira College in Keysborough raised more than $2000 for bushfire victims when they held a free dress day.
Students from Prep through to Year 12 dug deep and many brought a lot more than the gold coin donation that was required.
Acting Principal Pat Gay said that considering the school was only small, with 230 students, the response they had was just great.
“All the students were very excited to help.
“People really opened their hearts,” she said.
All the money raised was given to the Human Appeal International as the school already had a connection with them through their support of a child in Somalia.
