A shot in the arm

By Melissa Meehan
A BUSINESS like no other has won one of the south-east’s most prestigious business awards.
The Hallam-based Injectronics Pty Ltd is the winner of the 2008 Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Business Award.
The unique business has been recognised and rewarded through industry and has recently been inducted into the Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
The beauty of the business is that its competition is particularly limited. It is the only one of its kind in Australia and one of very few in the world.
The business repairs all manner of auto electrics, including transmissions, GPS units, air-conditioning, heating, and similar car components. But the big advantage comes from the fact that Injectronics repairs secondhand units, as well as manufacturing new ones.
Sales and marketing manager Gino Ricciuti said when a vehicle product failed the choices were to acquire a secondhand one through a wrecker’s yard, purchase a new product or find a remanufactured product.
“This is where we come in,” he said.
“Because we are not making brand new products it’s much more cost effective. The information has been learned and in turn developed in Dandenong.”
Managing director Rex Vandenberg accepted the award.
“This is thanks to our wonderful team,” he said.
The awards were held at Sandown Racecourse on Tuesday 17 March, with hundreds of people from the Greater Dandenong business community attending.
Total Auto Recyclers won the Corporate and Social Responsibility Award; Frontline Australasia Pty Ltd won the Innovation Award; JDN Monocrane won the Manufacturing Award; Britannia Metal Industries won the Employment Award; Dandenong Pavillion won the Service Excellence Award; Injectronics won the Small Business Award; Peter Stevens Motorcycles won the Retail Award; and apprentice youth services worker Matter Machar won the Youth Enterprise Award.
Chamber president Stephen Dunn said Injectronics had shown overall excellence. “We congratulate Injectronics on their win,” he said. “They are presented this award with respect to other nominees who were all excellent candidates.”
