Granger slots a handy 7

By JARROD POTTER

COUGARS clawed their way ahead against the Coburg Giants, snaring a seven-point win in Big V Division 2 Men’s basketball via an all-star performance from Alistair Granger.
The New Zealand international was on fire against the Giants – slotting 7/11 from the three-point arc as Coburg failed to keep track of the Keysborough guard in the 79-72 win.
Despite being beaten on the boards, the Keysborough talls held strong against Coburg powerhouses Jordan Harding and Brian O’Meara – with Kevin Benn (nine points, seven rebounds) while Nathaniel O’Hara (11 points) and Matt Dettman (11 points) also stayed accountable on defence.
Keysborough’s win keeps them in the hunt – while the Cougars currently sit seventh, they’re part of the logjam in the division from second to seventh – separated only by a single win.
Keysborough host the Mornington Breakers at the Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre from 7pm Saturday.
