Rangers’ spark blown out

SEABL – round 3

VICTORY eluded the Dandenong Rangers again on Friday night with its road-trip to South Australia proving unsuccessful.
The 2013 SEABL grand-final rematch was claimed by last year’s runner-up Mt Gambier in a 97-70 walk-over.
Dandenong’s early spark – seizing a one-point quarter-time lead – fell away afterwards as the Pioneers pushed away on the scoreboard.
A 55-36 second-half margin favoured the home side as Dandenong could not match pace with Pioneers’ Tom Daly (24 points), Brad Hill (20 points, 8 rebounds) and Damian Johnson (19 points, 9 rebounds).
Dandenong’s initiative was generated mostly by import pair Tony Lewis (22 points, 14 rebounds) and Daequon Montreal (16 points) while point guard Andrew Harms (20 points, 4 steals) also kept his side in the clash.
Dandenong sits last in the SEABL East conference with a 0-3 record.
Dandenong hosts Canberra in a Friday-night double header at Dandenong Basketball Stadium from 6pm, with the Rangers’ women fresh off a bye.
