Five arrested in Dandenong over robberies, burglary, extortion

POLICE have arrested five men in relation to a string of armed robberies, aggravated burglaries and extortion in Dandenong.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers executed several warrants at addresses in Dandenong on Wednesday afternoon.

The warrants related to a series of aggravated burglaries, armed robberies, extortions and drug trafficking conducted in the Casey area in recent months.

In addition to the five arrests, investigators seized an assortment of items including three motorcycles, a dune buggy, a go-kart, firearms and ammunition as well as cash.

One of the arrested men, 35-year-old Lirim Salievski, was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Mr Salievski has been charged with theft of motor car, blackmail, aggravated burglary, theft, extortion, threats to kill and firearm offences.

The four other men are expected to be charged in relation to the alleged possession of unlawful items.
