Gaming venue comes up trumps

The award-winning Highways.

SPRINGVALE gaming venue Highways has won a state award.
It took home the award for the best metropolitan gaming venue with more than 51 electronic gaming machines at the Australian Hotel Association – Victoria Awards on 17 November.
The category recognised excellence in gaming hotels and placed emphasis on the overall quality of the customer experience.
Highways was rewarded for delivering the highest standard of hospitality excellence above other nominees and 13 finalists.
Judges looked at the facility’s popularity, service, cleanliness, environmental sustainability efforts, decor, ambience, lighting and music.
They examined the quality, presentation, price, originality and selection of food and drinks and the integration of its gaming room with the overall hotel.
Highways general manager Di McKain said she was proud to be a part of the venue’s success.
“It is wonderful to be recognised for the quality of gaming experience the staff, company and patrons are dedicated to creating at Highways,” she said.
Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG), a Melbourne Racing Club subsidiary, owns the venue.
“We’re delighted that our venues are being rewarded at these prestigious industry awards for their efforts,” CEO Simon Gardner said.
“We’ve developed a hard working team who are dedicated to providing the very best hospitality for our customers.”
