Deadly crossing options on table

By CASEY NEILL

The Level Crossing Removal Authority will welcome feedback on Abbotts Road level crossing removal plans at two information sessions this week.
AW Bell, 145 Abbotts Road, Dandenong South, will host the drop-in events between 1pm and 3pm on Wednesday 20 and Friday 22 July.
The Journal reported on Wednesday 29 June that there were two options left on the table for removing the deadly crossing – building a rail bridge over Abbotts Road or a road bridge over the rail line.
LXRA caused community uproar in February when it proposed closing Abbotts Road and building a new road link over the rail line connecting Remington Drive to Pound Road West.
“These sessions will be a chance for you to contribute to the further refinement of the two shortlisted feasible designs and selection of a final solution to remove the Abbotts Road level crossing,” LXRA said in an invitation to the consultation sessions.
The final choice will be announced next month.
Call 1800 762 667 or email contact@levelcrossings.vic.gov.au to contribute feedback or for more information.
