Little library’s big on books

Springvale has a free pop-up library in Multicultural Place.
Greater Dandenong Council took inspiration for the book cupboard from the world-wide Little Library movement.
Visitors to the Buckingham Avenue space are encouraged to stay and share a story with their family and friends.
“Sharing books with your children is one of the best things you can do,” Mayor Youhorn Chea said.
“These pre-loved books can be enjoyed and then left at the library for someone else to enjoy.”
In other library news, the council has brought its Summer Reading Program back to the Springvale and Dandenong libraries.
Children are encouraged to read as many books as they can between 1 December and 23 January.
This year’s event is themed Game On, which includes sports, games, technology and the countries participating in next year’s Commonwealth Games.
A finale and prize presentations will be held at Dandenong Library at 2pm on Saturday 27 January.
