Works have started on a $4 million Senior Studies Centre at Cornish College in Bangholme.
The project, designed by McGlashan Everist Architects, features an open-style learning space as well as comfy social spaces with homely furniture and fireplaces.
Its unique indoor-outdoor study areas will overlook the 100-acre property’s wetlands.
Principal Vicki Steer said the centre would enable independent study, collaboration, coaching and mentoring, informal interactions and relaxation.
The first sod-turning ceremony was witnessed by Education Minister James Merlino as well as state MP Timothy Richardson and federal MP Mark Dreyfus.
The project received a $2 million funding from the State Government.
It is expected to open in mid-2019.
