A man has been bashed and robbed in Dandenong North after arranging to buy a phone on the online marketplace site Gumtree.
The 19-year-old Footscray victim had agreed to meet the purported vendor at McFees Road, opposite Lois Twohig Reserve about 5pm on Saturday 10 November.
At the rendezvous, two males demanded the $1000 cash for the phone. The victim was then punched and kicked by his assailants.
The pair took his cash and fled running down Barton Street.
They were described as African appearance, aged in their late teens-early 20s.
The victim received grazes to his arm and other minor injuries.
Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars, of Dandenong CIU, advised Gumtree buyers to meet in busy, populated areas and to not go alone.
