Vandals spark train delays

City-bound passengers on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines are facing about 15 minute delays due to the second vandalism attack near Yarraman station in two days.

An outbound signalling cable was damaged in multiple locations in the area overnight on 21-22 January as well as the night before, according to Public Transport Victoria.

The vandals seemed to be “making mischief” rather than trying to salvage copper wire, PTV spokesperson Georgia Main said.

Several inbound and outbound services were cancelled on the line that morning.

The cable was expected to be fixed by 9am.
