UNBEATEN Dandenong Thunder has set up a top-of-the-table clash with Bentleigh Greens at George Andrew Reserve in Trewin Street, Dandenong, this Sunday.

Ross Thompson, Nate Foster and Liam Kearney were all on target as the Thunder extended their winning start to five matches when they beat Northcote City 3-1 at John Cain Memorial Park in Thornbury yesterday.

The win continues their reign on top of the Victorian Premier League with a perfect five-from-five, a season starting record that matches that of the Greens, who beat Melbourne Knights 1-0 on Friday night.

Northcote City opened as James Kalifatidis scored from a penalty after seven minutes.

It was the first goal Thunder had conceded this season.

Dandenong’s Kearney found his way to an equaliser after 20 minutes and from there the Thunder looked to take control.

Foster gave the Thunder the lead in the second half after a header from Shane Rexhepi was parried away only to fall into Foster’s path.

Thompson, making his first start from the Thunder, scored a penalty in the 61st minute, converting from the post after Veton Korcari was taken down in the box.
