Southern Football League has appointed Peter Mair as director of umpiring.
Mair, a former director of umpires in the Alberton Football League, has stood as a field, boundary and goal umpire throughout more than 30 years in football and has umpired in 12 SFL grand finals. In the past four years he has worked as the SFL’s field umpiring coach.
AFL chief executive David Cannizzo welcomed Mair’s appointment. “We’re excited to have Peter Mair as director of umpiring,” he said. “Scott Van Noordennen has done an outstanding job over the past five years in developing the umpiring group into what it is today and Peter has been a key player in this growth, working closely with Scott over this time. “Peter brings with him a vast amount of experience from his corporate position as well as from his various umpiring roles.”
