SFL kicks back

By Glen Atwell
THE Southern Football League took a well-deserved break for the Queen’s Birthday holiday, but all three divisions are ready to kick back into action this weekend.
The halfway point of the season provides a chance for struggling clubs to rekindle their fortunes.
Sandown Cobras are one team searching for the formula and will be playing for their first win of the season in the clash with the Dandenong Demons.
Parkmore Pirates have cruised through their first eight games, but must remain at their best to retain top spot and premiership favouritism on the division-three ladder.
Playing finals football is no longer a reality for the Doveton Eagles, but the boys from Power Reserve must stick together and see out the rest of the season.
Springvale Districts has secured fourth spot on the division-two ladder, but the battle to retain it is going to be harder than the Demons first thought.
Springvale take on cross-town rival Oakleigh Districts this Saturday in a season-defining game.
Oakleigh occupies fifth position on the ladder and trails the Demons by just four percentage points.
The Lyndale Pumas would rather forget their first half of the season, but have vowed to battle on.
Having recorded just two wins from eight outings, the Pumas are playing for pride and have their first chance at redemption against Caulfield on Saturday.
