Swinging for cash

BUSINESS in the south east has raised about $40,000 to support the community’s most vulnerable.
The South East Business Networks (SEBN) fourth annual Take a Swing for Charity golf day was held on Monday 25 February, with about 100 players taking part and 100 people attending a dinner and auction.
All funds raised from the event at Sandhurst Club, Skye, will go directly to Ermha’s MadCap on Mason project in Dandenong.
Ermha provides day-to-day support for people with severe and enduring mental health problems, and MadCap is a café and regional training centre designed to get people back into employment.
Over the next 10 years it will help more than 4000 Ermha clients get the training they need to return to work.
SEBN manager Sandra George said it was a great day and the final fund-raising tally was still to be confirmed.
She thanked sponsors Kia, KPJ, Grenda, Bombardier, Nordon Conversion, Future Metals Recycling, and Ventura.
“And anybody who helps make this the most wonderful day,” she said.
“Everybody has so much fun.”
Over the past three years Take a Swing for Charity has provided $35,000 to the Greater Dandenong Food Alliance for a cool room for extra meals, $50,000 to Wallara Australia for a new hoist in its high support area and a sensory garden, and $41,000 to Royal District Nursing Service’s Homeless Persons Project for an extra car.
