Boost for cookie production

NOBLE Park company Diamond Dell has received $140,000 to improve its biscuit-making operations and create more jobs.
The State Government grant is for state-of-the-art production line equipment and came through round two of the Investing in Manufacturing Technology (IMT) program.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said Diamond Dell would use the cash to buy a new cookie production line to manufacture a broad range of cookie dough types, shapes and sizes.
“This will create 12 new jobs and allow the company to offer a higher quality and broader range of products,” she said.
Manufacturing Minister David Hodgett has said the IMT program was a key initiative of the Government’s Manufacturing Strategy, and the grants were an example of new technology helping improve production processes, develop new skills and take advantage of innovative export opportunities.
“Victoria is the hub of Australia’s manufacturing industry, but to meet the challenge of the high Australian dollar and competitive international markets, manufacturers must look to increase investment in new technology to remain competitive,” he said.
IMT grants require a minimum $3 co-contribution from the business for every $1 granted.
Another round will open later this year. Visit www.business.vic.gov.au/imt for more information.
