Thunder snaps Sharks out of it

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

AFTER a scoreless first half for both sides, the Dandenong Thunder managed two goals after the break to snap a three-game losing streak against the Port Melbourne Sharks.
Dandenong Coach Chris Taylor said his side controlled play for most of the game but wasn’t able to capitalise early.
“It was fairly even for the first 20 minutes,” he said.
“Then we managed to control the rest of the half.”
Dandenong’s first goal came a couple of minutes into the second half, courtesy of a beautiful free kick from Feston Azizi.
Not to be outdone, Nick Epifano’s late goal put the game beyond a doubt and brought the visitors to within two points of the top six.
Port Melbourne managed to retain possession on several occasions throughout the match but was unable to capitalise on it.
“Port Melbourne had reasonable possession but never really threatened our goals,” Taylor said.
“I thought we did well in the middle of the ground and our two boys up front played well for most of the game. It was an all-round good team effort.”
Taylor and his side will look for back-to-back wins when Dandenong host the Green Gully Cavaliers at George Andrews Reserve this Saturday.
