Dandenong Panthers pacemen James Pattinson and Peter Siddle will spearhead Australia’s attack for the upcoming Ashes series in England.
The duo were both named in a 16-man squad last for the Test series starting in July. New South Wales wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has been elevated to the Australian vice captaincy after being replaced by Casey-South Melbourne glove man Matthew Wade in recent times.
The two other major surprises in the England touring party were veteran Chris Rogers, who swayed the selectors with a brilliant summer in the Sheffield Shield for Victoria, and Tasmanian James Faulkner as the bowling all-rounder.
