Residents to have their say on sport

THE future of lawn bowls and croquet is in your hands, the City of Greater Dandenong council has told residents.
The council last week appointed Stratcorp Consulting to prepare a lawn bowls and croquet plan for the city to ensure that any increase in demand for the sports is adequately met over the next 20 years.
The council said Stratcorp would thoroughly consult the community, including non-English or limited English speakers, people with disabilities, sporting clubs, associations, and providers, and young people and older adults during the study period ending in August.
“Existing facilities will be evaluated and the study will seek to identify perceptions in the community related to participation and barriers to participation,” the council said.
Greater Dandenong mayor Youhorn Chea said the plan would promote sport across the city.
“This study will inform council of the best approach to take to cater for the expected rise in demand for such facilities over the next 20 years,” he said.
Individuals and community groups can contribute to the study by forwarding submissions to Stratcorp Consulting.
