A MAN died in Bangholme on Sunday after two boats collided in a race.
Police said that at 3.15pm on 22 July the man, aged in his 40s, was in a four lap race in a 14 foot fibre glass boat when he hit the wake from another boat.
Police said the man was ejected from the boat and suffered head injuries and died as a result of the accident.
The man’s body was recovered from the water by race organisers.
The Water Police from Melbourne arrived promptly at the scene to investigate the accident.
Police said the man’s boat was taken to the Water Police base at Williamstown for examination.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner in relation to the man’s death.
