A SHOPPING spree using stolen credit cards has prompted a festive season warning from police.
Thieves entered a home in Corrigan Road, Noble Park, between midnight and 6am on Saturday 2 November while a family slept.
They took a mobile phone, laptop computer, wallet and handbag then fled undiscovered.
Later that afternoon a man and a woman used the victims’ credit cards to buy mobile phones, phone credit, clothing, sports equipment, groceries and alcohol at Dandenong Plaza.
Detective Senior Constable Lee-Anne Clinton said police arrested the pair, and similar crimes were common during the Christmas period.
She urged shoppers to report and cancel missing credit cards and remove all valuables from vehicles, including purchases.
“Thieves are a bit more desperate this time of year. Everyone struggles at Christmas time a little bit with the bills.”
Det Sen Const Clinton said party-goers should try to park off-street whenever possible, or under street lighting.
