SEABL – round 13

DANDENONG’S rise up the SEABL ladder claimed another high-calibre victory as the Rangers bested ladder-leading Geelong.
Chasing down the fast-starting Supercats, Dandenong charged back into the match with a four-pronged attack snaring the points.
Although the Dandenong offence was impressive, the match was won in the back-half as the Rangers restricted the Supercats to 31 points after half-time and forced the visitors to concede 17 turnovers.
Tony Lewis (27 points, 11 rebounds) proved stellar once again with Daequon Montreal (16 points, 7 rebounds), Andrew Harms (15 points) and Owen Odigie (10 points) all recording double figures.
The Rangers sit third in SEABL East with an 11-5 record and travel to Ballarat on Saturday.
It was a two-win weekend for the Rangers as the women knocked off Geelong 78-60 in the opening match of the double-header. Dandenong’s centre tandem Lauren Scherf (20 points, 6 rebounds) and Jacinta Kennedy (19 points, 11 rebounds) led the attack from baseline to baseline.
Clare Papavs dished off a whopping seven assists and Amelia Todhunter (13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) also racked up stats across the box-score.
It gives the Rangers women a 13-2 record heading into their clash with the Ballarat Rush.
