DANDENONG Market will host the World Food Fare with cuisines and entertainment influenced by some of the world’s most important river systems.
There’ll be outdoor hawker market stalls, canopied stands, bain maries, hot and cold offerings, sizzling hot plates, sweets and savouries and cooking demonstrations in The Kitchen.
Entry is free and free parking is available.

THE St James’ Dandenong Fair Committee will have a night of dance and karaoke to the sounds from the ’60s through to the ’80s.

Vietnamese Tet Festival
MORE than 20,000 people will celebrate the Vietnamese New Year with live music, lion dancing, a bonsai exhibition, games and carnival rides, traditional delicacies and fireworks.

Polio support
SOUTH Eastern Region Polio Support Group will hold its first meeting for the year next month.
The peer support group’s members all have the late effects of polio and meet on the second Saturday of the month. They have guest speakers at some meetings.

Green thumb tour
HERITAGE Hill will host monthly tours exploring the Benga gardens, which were originally planted and maintained by Dorothy Hart, and the Laurel Lodge gardens.
The tour includes the recent introduction of some rare and significant plants. A picnic will follow.

Chinese New Year
DRAGONS, firecrackers and red pockets will bring in the Chinese New Year in Keysborough.
There’ll be Chinese dragon performances, a firecracker display and traditional food at the Somerfield Social Club event.
Children are encouraged to wear traditional Chinese dress and will receive lucky red pockets filled with chocolate coins.

Year of the Goat

Rangers take on Spirit
THE Dandenong Rangers boasts some of the most talented female basketballers in the world.

Tea and history
THE Heritage Hill historic precinct features three preserved buildings in two acres of landscaped gardens.
A tour takes in the gardens, Laurel Lodge and Benga Lodge and is designed to provide an insight into the families who lived at the property and Dandenong’s rich cultural history.

HAZARA Culture is an exhibition by local Afghan artist Hadi Rahimi and features works in pencil, pen and oil painting.

Floriography
FOUR Chisholm Institute Certificate IV in Photo Imaging students have each produced four works to the floriography theme to be shown in art boxes on McCrae Street.
They familiarised themselves with the Heritage Hill gardens to create images that present a perspective of their heritage and tranquillity.

Travertine stone
LOCAL artist Mohammad Ali Ramazani makes sculptures and decorative vessels from stone, often using hand cutting, chipping and sanding techniques to perfect the shape of his forms.
His works are often viewed as classic garden sculptures but will be taken out of context and arranged in a unique way for this exhibition.

Baby Bounce
THIS free early literacy program is designed to help children aged under two explore language through stories, songs and rhymes.

The King in concert
ELVIS To The Max is on its way to Dandenong, with The King impersonator Max Pellicano taking centre stage.
His tributes have been described as ‘Elvis resurrected’ and his costumes include exact replicas made by Elvis’s tailor.
