Allstaff’s air of supremacy

By Shaun Inguanzo
A COMMERCIAL air conditioning company has won one of the south-east’s most prestigious business awards.
The Dingley-based Allstaff Air Conditioning is the winner of the 2007 Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Award.
The awards were held at Sandown Racecourse on Tuesday, with hundreds of people from the Greater Dandenong business community attending.
Allstaff took the top gong, and an excited managing director, Frank Wiedermann, accepted the award.
There were eight other category winners on the night.
Australian Char won the Corporate and Social Responsibility Award; Globe Machines the Export Award; Direct Mail and Marketing the Innovation Award; Linak Australia the Employment Award, Dorma Australia the Service Excellence Award; Hermitage Homes the Small Business Award; Gemini Catering Equipment and Uniforms the Retail Award; and apprentice mechanic Matthew Szczensy won the Youth Enterprise Award.
The awards recognise the best performing businesses in each category from the Greater Dandenong region.
Throughout the year, the Chamber of Commerce holds five breakfasts at which up to three companies are nominated for the awards.
The 2007 year culminated in style at Sandown this week, and now paves the way for another successful year of business in Greater Dandenong.
Chamber president Renae MacNamara said Allstaff had showed overall excellence.
“As an all-round business they have displayed excellence, particularly around the innovative designs they do to fit out places with air conditioning that you would never believe possible,” she said.
“And for a business like that to grow out of Dandenong, it’s a fantastic indicator of the potential Dandenong produces.”
Ms MacNamara thanked the sponsors for their help in making the night a special occasion.
“Without them these kind of awards wouldn’t happen,” she said.
“I’d also like to thank John D’Angelo from the NAB. Their contribution is not only financial, it is also John’s time spent helping organise the awards.”
Compere for the night was former journalist, politician and Coodabeen Champion Ian Cover.
