Great rewards for going green

SCHOOLS, students, businesses and households can be recognised for contributing to their city’s environment.
The Greater Dandenong Sustainability Awards are now in their second year.
Two extra categories – sustainable development and sustainable business – have been added to the home and garden, schools, and students categories.
Mayor Heang Tak said all residents should be doing their bit, but some stood out from the crowd and were doing more than their share.
“Whether it’s a neighbour with an amazing vegetable garden or water saving device, or a local school teaching students to save the planet, we want to hear about it,” he said.
“Even businesses that are reducing their environmental footprints in creative ways can be nominated.”
Prizes will include Bunnings, Gardenworld and Dandenong Plaza vouchers and myki cards.
Entries close at 4pm on Tuesday 1 December.
Winners will be notified in December and will receive their prizes as part of the Family Sustainability Festival on Sunday 21 February.
