JIMMY Li didn’t take prisoners when confronted by two would-be armed robbers in his Dandenong milk bar.
One of the two female hooded crooks pointed a long-arm or pole as they angrily demanded cash from Mr Li about 1.30pm on 3 April.
From behind the counter, the 61-year-old quickly launched a counter-attack.
He grabbed a steel pole, pointed it twice at the assailants and repeatedly yelled “f … off”.
Mr Li chased the failed bandits out the front door. The pair escaped in an awaiting blue Holden sedan with no number plates.
“I don’t care if they are holding a gun,” Mr Li told the Journal.
“I was with the Chinese army for four years.”
In Mr Li’s past eight years at the store, he has chased off several robbers armed with knives.
On one occasion, a huge male stood on the counter and threatened him with a blade.
As usual, Mr Li stared the robber down.
Mr Li He has stopped opening his store after dark because of the proliferation of no-good-doers.
In the past week, he’s also reported to police about a group who shoplifted chips, chocolates and sweets en masse, and a man in an orange fluoro vest who passed off a fake $50 note.
Each incident is captured on his four in-shop CCTV cameras.
Mr Li has unsuccessfully requested Greater Dandenong Council install an outside camera on the corner of Weller and Hemmings Street.
He says it may help deter the burgeoning drug deals, street girls, assaults and home break-ins at the corner.
“Too many people come here,” he said.
“Too many bad boys.”
