Ryan to boost camping tourism

GERRY Ryan has joined the Visit Victoria board to applause from the caravan and camping industry.
Tourism Minister John Eren made the appointment, adding the Dandenong businessman to the mix to help Victoria remain a destination of choice for travellers from all over Australia and the world.
Mr Ryan founded leading caravan manufacturer Jayco back in 1975 and is no stranger to major events.
As the Global Creatures chairman, he was responsible for bringing productions King Kong, Walking With Dinosaurs and War Horse to Victoria.
CIA VIC CEO Rob Lucas said he was looking forward to working with Mr Ryan to shape the future of caravan and camping tourism in Victoria.
“We are well-placed to assist in the implementation of the Victorian Government regional strategy, Wander Victoria,” he said.
VicParks CEO Elizabeth White said she was delighted with the appointment.
“Gerry has a significant track record in developing and delivering quality visitor experiences for tourists, and we are confident that he will provide the board with valuable insights into planning for growth in regional economies,” she said.
