Failed robbery at knifepoint

A masked man brandishing a knife tried to rob a Springvale sweets store.
Police allege he walked into the Springvale Road Indian confectionary shop, located near James Street, about 7.50pm on Monday 27 June.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Acting Sergeant Luke Shore said the man, who was also wearing gloves, produced the knife and demanded money from the 34-year-old woman behind the counter.
“The victim was on the phone at the time. We believe this may have deterred the offender,” he said.
“He ran off through the rear door of the store, empty-handed.”
Det Acting Sgt Shore said police were in the process of obtaining CCTV.
He appealed for anyone with information about the attempted robbery to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
