A South Australian court has granted bail to a Dandenong man charged over a girl’s death.
Shujaat Bahrami, 40, appeared in Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court for a bail application hearing on Wednesday 19 October.
He was bailed to an address in South Australia, must not leave the state without permission, and must return to court on Tuesday 17 January next year.
Mr Bahrami was behind the wheel of a Hyundai SUV that collided head-on with a Mitsubishi Pajero four-wheel drive in Stockwell just before 4pm on Sunday 2 October.
An eight-year-old Kilburn girl was in the Hyundai’s back seat and died at the scene.
The Hyundai’s other passengers, a 28-year-old woman from Kilburn and two girls aged 16 and 12 years from Pooraka, were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police charged Mr Bahrami with one count of causing death by dangerous driving, three counts of causing serious harm by dangerous driving, and one count of aggravated driving without due care.
The Pajero’s driver, a 29-year-old South Australian man, and his four passengers, including three children, received treatment for minor injuries.
