Youth in action

Dandenong Civic Centre will host the youth forum.

Young people can share their ideas for action and shape government policy in Dandenong.
The Dandenong Youth Forum will be one of 12 held across the state with the theme Turning Ideas into Action.
Young people who attend will learn how to develop skills in community involvement and have the chance to discuss their ideas.
The forums will help determine the agenda for the inaugural Youth Summit, to be held on 31 March next year, to kick off National Youth Week.
Participants will also elect regional representatives to the Victorian Youth Congress, which will advise the government on priority issues for young people.
The Youth Affairs Council Victoria and State Government forum will also feature free pizza and give-aways.
Youth Affairs Council Victoria CEO Georgie Ferrari said the council had long advocated for young people to be seen as the experts in their own lives.
“These regional forums are the exciting beginning of a process that will ensure young people’s ideas are front and centre in policy making in Victoria,” she said.
Youth Affairs Minister Jenny Mikakos said it was more important than ever that young people were involved in decision making.
“Youth forums offer young people the chance to discuss new ideas, advocate for what they believe in and ultimately make a difference,” she said.
The Dandenong forum will run from 5pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday 8 November, at Dandenong Civic Centre, 225 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong.
