Man arrested over hijack claim

By Casey Neill

A 25-year-old Dandenong man is in custody after allegedly trying to hijack a plane.
Victoria Police said emergency services were called to Melbourne Airport about 11.40pm on Wednesday 31 May following a request for assistance from an airline.
The Malaysia Airlines flight MH 128 was on its way to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and returned to Melbourne when a man allegedly tried to enter the cockpit and threatened the safety of passengers and staff.
The man did not gain entry to the cockpit. He was subdued and a safety plan was enacted.
The plane landed safely at the airport. The investigation is ongoing.
