Sinhalese New Year

GREATER Dandenong’s Sri Lankan community celebrated the Sinhalese New Year last weekend.
The festival attracted more than 5000 people from all over Melbourne and was held at Dandenong Showgrounds on Sunday 17 April.
Century 21 Hampton Park sales manager Sujith Corray said a good time was had by all.
“It was a good time,” he said.
“People came from all over for this day.”
The cultural celebration included traditional sporting activities, national foods, games and other cultural activities.
The festival was run by the Sri Lanka German Technical Training Institute Old Boys Association Australia and was sponsored by Century 21 Real Estate Hampton Park.
