Service for the fallen

AN Anzac Day memorial service was held at the Endeavour Hills War Memorial this week.
Almost 100 people attended the service to pay tribute to fallen and departed comrades. The service was held by the Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL sub-branch at 12.30pm on Tuesday.
Guest Speaker City of Casey mayor Cr Shar Balmes spoke about the sacrifices made by young men as they fought for their country and fought for peace.
Anzac spirit was Australian spirit, Cr Balmes said.
Dandenong RSL president Alan Harper recited the Anzac requiem and Reverend Jeff Parker said the Lord’s Prayer.
Wreaths were laid by a number of local residents, committee members and dignitaries including local MP’s, councillors from the City of Casey, the Dandenong RSL Women’s Auxiliary, Noble Park RSL, Endeavour Hills Rotary Club, army and navy cadets and the Australia Air League of Berwick. The piper Alistair Wright played Amazing Grace while all attendees placed a red poppy at the memorial.
