Injury warning after crush call

A MAN crushed by a forklift drove himself to his wife’s workplace before calling an ambulance.
The man, 47, was crushed between a forklift and a tray truck on Tuesday afternoon but drove himself to his wife’s Springvale workplace where she called an ambulance for him.
He suffered multiple fractured ribs and suspected internal bleeding.
MICA paramedic Kiran Ablett said the man’s actions may have made his injuries worse.
“We urge people to call an ambulance rather than driving themselves somewhere because this may have exacerbated the man’s injuries,” Ms Ablett said.
“It is far better to call an ambulance at the site of an accident so we can better understand what happened and treat you quicker.”
The man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious but stable condition.
