Rangers rocket up

THE Dandenong Rangers rocketed to third place on the WNBL ladder after beating the Sydney Uni Flames on Friday night 91-82 and face the West Coast Waves in their last home match of the regular season tomorrow night.
The Rangers trailed at half time 53-41, after getting outscored 29-18 in the second quarter. The fight back started in earnest in the third quarter, as Dandenong turned the tables to post 19-14 to bring the margin back to seven at the last change.
The final quarter was all one way as Dandenong demolished Sydney in all areas. Hitting 31 points in the fourth, Dandenong set up the win with great defensive pressure – taking 10 in the Sydney half – as the Flames shot waywardly at 38.9 per cent from the field.
Jenna O’Hea hit 19 points, Kath Macleod was everywhere with 16 points and 12 rebounds including 10 from defence, Krista Phillips hit 16 points and Steph Cumming almost had a double-double with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Rangers face the West Coast Waves tomorrow night in their final regular season match at home and Dandenong will go in confident having won 90-65 and 75-56 in their two previous encounters this season.
