POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a handbag theft in Springvale that happened on 31 October at 12.17pm.
Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives said that a 34-year-old Clayton woman was walking south along Springvale Road when a man ran from behind and grabbed her handbag on the way through.
The man pulled the woman to the ground in the process, and she suffered minor injuries.
Police said the man was last seen running east across Springvale Road and down a laneway near the Springvale Primary School.
Detective Senior Constable Stuart Freeman urged people to be aware of their surroundings while wearing a handbag over their shoulder, and to limit the number of valuables contained within it.
Police have released an image of the man they wish to speak to in relation to the handbag snatch.
