THE Melbourne Racing Club says a rail that collapsed during freak winds on Sunday and caused the cancellation of a race meet at Sandown will be stable for another meet this Sunday.
Just two races were run before jockeys lobbied the race steward to call off Sunday’s meeting when part of the track’s moveable rail collapsed, sparking safety fears. Melbourne Racing Club racecourses general manager Jason Kerr said several short term measures would be in place for this Sunday’s meet.
