STUDENTS from Greater Dandenong have had a successful Victorian Certificate of Education year.
Keysborough’s Haileybury College was quick to boast about the 22 of its students that scored an Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER) of above 99.
The college’s principal, Dr Robert Pargetter, said the results reinforced the school’s reputation as an academic leader.
“These results demonstrate that our three-year VCE program, commitment to small class sizes and excellent staff, give our students the greatest opportunity to achieve their very best in VCE,” he said.
“Our students and staff are to be congratulated and commended for an outstanding academic year and we wish our class of 2006 the very best for the future.”
Springvale Secondary College had its best year yet with all 41 students passing their VCE, two students scoring ENTERs above 99, and 19.5 per cent of students scoring above 90.
“Given that Springvale Secondary College students come from a diverse multicultural background, with over 90 per cent of our students having English as their second language and a significant number of our students having been in Australia for only two years or so, these results are even more spectacular,” principal Mark Kosach said.
Lyndale Secondary College in Dandenong was also delighted with its students’ achievements.
Principal Russel Davies said the top ENTER score at the school was 99.4.
“Hopefully, it will get that student into medicine, which is what they want to do,” he said.
“Overall we had a good percentage of our students in the (ENTER scores) 80s and above and a significant amount in the high 80s.
“We also had a perfect study score of 50 for one of our psychology students.”
