Best of British

THE winners of the Central Dandenong Retail Traders Association Business Awards were named at the Dandenong Club on Tuesday night.
Businessmen and women from around the City of Greater Dandenong gathered at the event to celebrate the success of exceptional local retailers.
Rob’s British Butcher, at 177 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong topped the list, being crowned winner of the 2009 Central Dandenong Retailer of the Year.
“Rob and Jill Boyle are leading retailers in Central Dandenong and have been great ambassadors for Dandenong through radio and television and are very worthy winners of this prestigious award,” Dandenong Retail Traders Association Chairperson Roy Aspinall said.
Mr and Mrs Boyle opened their first shop in Central Dandenong in 1992 and their present location in 1997. The shop is well known for its pork pies, black pudding, haggis and award winning sausages. Their products are sold around Australian through the David Jones chain.
The shop is an automatic entry in the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Awards.
Mr Aspinall said all entries for the 11th annual awards were of high standards.
“The quality of entries was high, making the task of the judging panel a difficult one.”
