ROARING to the top of the tally was Masala midfielder Ben Nugent, claiming the club’s inaugural best and fairest at their presentation night.
Masala Football Club capped off its first season with its presentation night held last Friday evening at the Jan Wilson Community Centre in Noble Park.
Two Richmond Football Club staff members were present to congratulate the Tigers on their inaugural season as well as representatives from the club’s chief sponsor Amity Property Group.
Nugent claimed the top honour at the awards night ahead of football debutant Jusi Kaldaru.
Nugent claimed the club’s first best and fairest – edging out Jusi Kaldaru while Prakash Kailasanathan finished as the club’s most prolific goal-kicker with 21 goals.
Kaldaru was also named Masala’s most improved, the Coach’s Award was split by Nick Davis and Ryan Harrop.
The Masala Award, given to the player best living the club’s ethos and philosophy, went to Learnmore Moyo.
Masala finished its first season in the Victorian Amateur Football Association’s Club XVIII competition with a 2-13 season including the Tigers first win as a club, beating Dragons by 12 points in June.
The club is in discussion with the VAFA about promotion to Division 4 in 2014.
