In with the new look

THIS is the final edition of the Greater Dandenong Star, but Star News Group’s coverage of the municipality is set to strengthen in the coming weeks.
Star News Group has a 104-year heritage and understands the value of quality community newspapers that connect with people and communities.
Star was recently given the opportunity to purchase the 148-year-old Dandenong Journal and it was obvious to us that it would give the perfect opportunity for Star to provide stronger and even more connected papers in the Dandenong region.
With this in mind the Dandenong Star and Dandenong Journal will merge from 9 September’s edition and will be published each Monday.
The Dandenong Journal masthead will be retained.
Some of the area’s former newspapers merged into the Journal over the years including the Dandenong News, Dandenong Independent and Dandenong Examiner.
The Star was launched on 19 May 2005 and has since forged strong networks and partnerships throughout the Greater Dandenong region.
It has fostered a particularly strong relationship with the business community, including ongoing associations with the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Awards, South East Melbourne Manufacturers Alliance (SEMMA) and South East Business Networks (SEBN).
These will continue and strengthen through the Dandenong Journal, which will return to its traditional size.
The 9 September merged edition will be the true start of a revitalised Dandenong Journal, ready to grow with the exciting revitalisation taking place in Dandenong and its surrounds today.
