Extra mile for mo

By CASEY NEILL

ONE Dandenong police officer has gone the extra mile for Movember – quite literally.
Sergeant David Fyfe this month ran from Pakenham Police Station to his Dandenong workplace to support the fundraiser, which sees men around the world sprout moustaches for men’s health during November.
He’s not only sporting a hairy upper lip for the cause, but set out at 5am to run 29 kilometres in three hours.
“We’ve got a Movember team here and I just wanted to raise some funds for the cause,” Sgt Fyfe said.
“I’ve never run that far, I just wanted to test myself I guess.”
How did he feel at the end?
“Hungry. I ran on an empty stomach,” he laughed.
But his upper lip’s current state is no laughing matter.
“I look like my dad. It’s awful,” he said.
At least Sgt Fyfe has a crew of colleagues alongside him. The station’s mo bros are known as SDG Unimo’s and have so far collected more than $560.
“We’re trying to raise as much as we can,” he said.
