Orphanage looks ahead

OLIVIA Bartholomeusz moved to Sri Lanka in 2004 to fulfil her mum’s dream of helping her former home.
The Kathleen Keegel Children’s Fund (KKCF) founder will visit Springvale this weekend, to raise funds and speak about teaching and caring for up to 30 children in the St Anthony’s orphanage.
“They come from abused backgrounds,” her sister Georgiana Godfrey said.
“Our aim is to give the children a better future for themselves and their community – to give them an opportunity that they may not have had.”
Ms Godfrey fundraises for the charity from Dandenong and needs to bring in $4000 a month.
“Without us she couldn’t do the work and without Olivia we wouldn’t be able to continue,” she said.
“We work full time with jobs but at night we go home and continue our work for the orphanage.
“Mum always talked about going back and helping.
“Olivia’s been able to do it for her.”
The dinner dance fundraiser is at Springvale Town Hall, 397 Springvale Road, Springvale, from 7.30pm on Saturday 29 March.
Entry is a $50 donation for adults and $30 for children aged four to 15.
Book online at www.trybooking.com/dvge.
Call 9774 7883 or 0403 023 949 or visit www.kkcf.org to support the organisation.
