THE State Government will invest nearly $2 million to relocate three Greater Dandenong kindergartens.
Springvale Rise Kindergarten will be co-located with Springvale Rise Primary School.
Dandenong West Kindergarten will be moved to Dandenong West Primary School and Dandenong Park Early Years facility will be moved to Dandenong Primary School.
The new facilities will include rooms for three and four-year-old kindergarten programs, and community rooms for families to hold playgroups.
Minister for Early Childhood Development Wendy Lovell said building a kindergarten on the same site as a school made sense for Dandenong families.
“This is not only more convenient for families, it allows a child’s progress to be better supported as they grow and ensures a smooth transition to school.”
The relocated kindergartens will open their doors at the start of term one next year.
Greater Dandenong director of community services Mark Doubleday said no plans had been made for the sites that were being vacated.
“Council does not yet have a position on what will happen to the existing kindergartens. It will take some time for the planning and building of the new facilities and the
existing kindergartens will continue to provide services in the meantime,” he said.
