NOMINATIONS are now open for the Greater Dandenong Australia Day Awards.
Mayor Jim Memeti said the awards had been expanded so a broader cross-section of the community could be recognised for their positive contributions.
“We have a number of people in our local community who work tirelessly to make our city a better place to live and these awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise them,” he said.
Categories include Citizen of the Year (26 years of age and above), Young Leader of the Year (25 years of age or under), Volunteer of the Year, Leadership Award, Multicultural Award, Sportsperson of the Year and Corporate Citizen of the Year.
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 31 October.
A community panel will decide the winners, who’ll receive their awards during the Greater Dandenong Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at the Drum Theatre on 26 January.
Nomination forms are available by calling 8571 1000 or at www.greaterdandenong.com.
