High-speed chase ends in charges

AN ENDEAVOUR Hills man has been charged over several alleged car jackings as part of a three-hour police chase from Dandenong to East Gippsland last Thursday.
Jaye Richardson, 25, was charged with eight counts of armed robbery – with more charges expected to be laid.
A 17-year-old Hampton Park girl, who was a passenger for part of the 270-kilometre chase, was charged with five counts of armed robbery.
She was remanded to appear at a children’s court.
Police have alleged Richardson wielded a firearm when detectives tried to execute a search warrant at a house in Rogers Street, Dandenong, at 10.30am.
After police negotiations, he allegedly drove off in an stolen white ute, and stole several other vehicles during a chase through Ferntree Gully, Pakenham, Warragul, Morwell, Yarragon, Moe, Newmans Creek and Bairndale.
Richardson was arrested by Special Operations Group police at Swan Reach near Lakes Entrance.
